Beetroot Basher

Pure nutrition!

Who would have thought; beetroot and aquavit forming the backbone of a longdrink! And as if that wasn’t enough, dill and ginger is also added to this unusual concoction.

This is a funky mix that you would only come up with if you, like Rasmus Poulsgaard from Duck and Cover did, studied the botanical families associated with the components of aquavit.

The Beetroot Basher has links to both a bloody mary and a dark and stormy. Hard to imagine indeed, but worth challenging your own flavor-preconceptions with. If you need more convincing, consider that this must be one of the healthiest drinks you’ll bump into in the Copenhagen night life.

6 cl dill aquavit
1 pinch celery salt
2 cl lemon juice
1 bar spoon simple syrup
3 cl ginger beer
3 cl organic beetroot juice

Build it in a highball glass and stir a bit.

Garnish: A twig of dill, a slice of ginger and thin slice of (preferably dehumidified) beetroot.

This cocktail will bash you with pure nutrition and leave you hungry for more!

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
