I’ll have my sugar cane in a drink…
This is without comparison the best way we have ever enjoyed an Aalborg Christmas aquavit. The sharp, distinct and complex caraway spice is surprisingly seducing in this citric wrapping combined with a tasteful measure of peppermint and almond flavored liqueur.
4 cl Christmas Akvavit
1 cl Orgeat
2 cl Lemon juice
1 cl Amaretto
1 bar spoon Mentepastille (Créme de menthe)
1 dash of egg white
All ingredients except the soda are dry shaken to emulsify the egg white and subsequently shaken with ice before being fine strained into a high ball glass and topped with soda. When settled it’s garnished with a Bismarck sugar cane and a holly leaf.
The minty Bismarck sugar cane brings you across the palate and opens up the caraway flavor bringing the aquavit cocktail experience to a whole new level. This is a very convincing example of how 2+2 equals 5 when the ingredients of the equation have the right complementary qualities. Find it at Duck and Cover.
