This tasty crowd pleaser took Copenhagen by storm in 2009 when Hardeep Singh Rehal won the Danish championships in classic cocktail for the second time (again incorporating aquavit in a savory mix with gin).
Cucumber Yum Yum has been one of the best selling craft cocktails at the cocktail bar 1105 , where Hardeep worked as bar manager before opening his own cocktail night club Blume.
40 ml gin
15 ml Aalborg Jubilæums Akvavit*
30 ml acacia honey syrup
20 ml lime
2 raspberries, 5 slices of cucumber
Muddle the berries and cucumber. Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain over crushed ice in a low ball glass. Garnish with a cucumber roll.
The mix of acacia honey, raspberries and cucumber makes this cocktail an unparalleled summer libation.
Hardeep started his award spree when he won the Danish Championships in 2007 with his elegant martini style cocktail Complement.
*Aalborg Jubilæums Akvavit was launched to celebrate Isidor Henius – the founding father of the distilling craft in Denmark. The Akvavit includes both caraway and dill seed and is aged on white American oak – a rarity among Danish aquavits – which gives it a nose with hints of caramel and vanilla.
