First Aid
A cure for..?
Spirits and different types of alcoholic drinks, have been thought to have various health improving qualities through the years. Often completely misunderstood as alcohol has little if anything to offer good health in and of itself.
Alcohol is however an effective disinfection, extraction and preservation agent and has been used for medicinal purposes for this reason.
The cocktail menu at Curfew explores the medicinal use and history of various spirits and other ingredients. One delicious example of this is the First Aid:
5cl Tanqueray gin
3cl Aloe vera honey
2cl dry port wine
3cl fresh lime juiceShake all the ingredients with ice, strain into a lowball glass over rock ice and garnish with grapes.
First Aid is inspired by Romano Zago, – a priest from Brazil, who has been exploring a natural cure for cancer made from the Aloe Vera plant.
While on duty in poor cities in Brazil, father Zago noticed how many people use Aloe Vera to treat different diseases and conditions. Intrigued by the plant’s potential, he started studying it and developing a natural medicine that he published a book about with the lofty title “Cancer Can Be Cured”.
