A perfect example of the versatility of the Nordic “pickle” cocktail category, the Jubilee pickle demonstrates that careful use of distinct and characterful ingredients can yield a sophisticated and balanced result. It will be available to try on special request at Kester Thomas in week 25 (21st-24th of June) for just 70 kr.
50 ml Aalborg Jubilæums Akvavit
20 ml Chardonnay white wine
1 bar spoon white balsamic vinegar
1 bar spoon honey
Stirred with ice and served in a Nick’n Nora glass garnished with one small green olive.
The Jubilee pickle is a light and simple drink that, in the field of aquavit cocktails, is undeniably on the feminine side. Reminiscent of a vodka martini but with a decidedly sweeter and spicier feel. As with the other pickles it strikes a fine balance of acidity against the finer tones of the base spirit and is overall a very well balanced aquavit cocktail with an almost seamless blend of the Jubilæums aquavit with the other ingredients. A feminine cocktail in look and taste that well exemplifies the broad range of the pickle category and demonstrates the versatility of aquavit as a cocktail ingredient.
