Pære på dåse

Risk spilling a little blood

Every year 1000 Danes have to pay a visit to the emergency room with injuries from trying to open tin cans a little too eagerly. If you have the guts to challenge the tin can despite this deterring fact we suggest you do it at Lidkoeb, where they serve this wonderful, canned cocktail: Pære på Dåse (Canned pear).

6 cl fio cachacha (imported by Duck and Cover)
3 cl pear/basil syrup
2 cl lime juice
1 dash celery bitter
1 dash egg white

Shake with ice. Serve over crushed ice in a tin can. Garnish with a sprig of Bassil.

With the exception of the caipirinha that you can get everywhere, stumbling upon a cachacha cocktail is a rare treat. In “pære på dåse” it works exceptionally well. The basil and celery is a good fit for the grassy and herblike notes of the cachacha and definitely makes this cocktail worth spilling a little blood for!

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
