Black white Russian

A classic with a modern twist

Most places you find white russians, some places you find black russians – at K-bar, Kirsten Holm serves a Black White Russian!

It makes sense in many ways. Aesthetically  this cocktail suits the modern b/w interior of K-bar perfectly. Conceptually it’s a good example of K-bars new traditionalism – a classic with a modern twist. Actually the Black White Russian is just one out of a series of six white russians made at K-bar – each twisted in its own unique way.

This particular one came about when the new delicious licorice syrups from Johan Bülow hit the market.

3 cl vodka
3 cl Kahlua
Sweet Licorice syrup from Johan Bülow

Dissolve a bar spoon of sweet licorice syrup in the vodka and kahlua. Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Float slightly whipped full cream on top and garnish with raw licorice powder from Johan Bülow.

The Black White Russian makes a really good case for mixing coffee, cream and licorice. What a wonderful way to re-experience a classic. If you love White Russians K-bar has got to be your next destination!

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
