Espresso Martini on Slush

A contemporary classic reinvented

The espresso martini is a contemporary classic. It has nothing to do with a martini though – but who cares when you can have your espresso shot in a drink!? At Balderdash, Geoffrey Canilao of course has pushed this classic way beyond it’s normal boundaries with hazelnut,  slush and bacon salt…

Slush Espresso Martini from Balderdash7 parts vodka
2 parts frangelico
2 parts kaluha
2 parts creme de cacao
2 part sugar syrup
11 parts drip coffee

Prepare all ingredients in your slush machine…  Garnish with a few pinches of bacon salt and serve in a cocktail glass.

Forget Red Bull and other energy drinks – this is a much more delicate way to get caffeine in your system.

Frangelico hazelnut liqueur should be mandatory content in any espresso martini. Slush makes this rather sweet drink and absolute delight and combined with the bacon salt it will make you dream of caramel desserts out of this world.

No wonder that the Espresso Martini Slush has become so popular that Geoffrey fears mutiny among the guests if he takes it off the menu.

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
