Golden Milk

Scandinavia’s best Linie cocktail

In May 2016 Arcus hosted the cocktail competition “Linie – the Journey”. The challenge for the participating bartenders was to make a signature cocktail with Linie Aquavit inspired by one of the stops the ship makes when bringing the Linie aquavit twice across the equator – Oslo, Boston, Panama, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, eller Japan.
Irina Jelizarova won with her “Golden Milk”, which can now be found on the menu at Lidkoeb. Irina found her inspiration in the cultural boiling pot of Singapore interpreting her experience of colourful fruits, spices and flower garlands you find everywhere in the food stalls and markets there. The herby earthiness and flowery notes is brought forth with a honey-tumeric-lavender syrup complimenting the caraway of the double casked Linie aquavit which is sweetened with a bit of sherry.

Golden Milk is truly a unique creation worthy of winning the Linie Jouney challenge. The exceptional 1st prize of the challenge is that Irina will be making her own Linie Aquavit in collaboration with Arcus Master Blender Ivan Abrahamsen!

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
