Nordic Mule
Aquavit and a spicy kick
In February 2016 three Scandinavian companies merged into the full-service customer experience agency Nordlið. To celebrate the new united brand Nordlið threw a party and wanted Nordic cocktails for the occasion.
Denmark’s best bartender 2016 Ted Dako and his business partner Aurimas Mul (bartender at K bar) had just formed the catering company I got Spirit and they were hired for the gig.
To meet the request for Nordic cocktails Aurimas made Nordic Mule combining elderflower, aquavit, dill and cucumber:
5 cl Aalborg Taffel akvavit
2,5 cl Marie Brizard elderflower liqueur
2,5 lime
top with Thomas Henry Ginger beerPour all the ingredients over rock ice in a wine glass. Top up with Thomas Henry ginger beer and garnish with cucumber slices and dill.
Nordic Mule is an absolutely amazing and well balanced summer refreshment. The ginger beer provides the spicy mule kick at first but the characteristic caraway notes of the Taffel aquavit stick along for the after taste and blends in with the dill garnish which makes this cocktail interestingly complex.
Nordlið might not have expected to have aquavit served when they asked for Nordic cocktails. But expectations become irrelevant when tasting this cocktail. Chances are that you’ll be preferring this anytime over the classic Moscow Mule!
