Root2Market, Futurebox cocktail with Linie Aquavit

Root2Market

From startup to export success

In 1805 the Norwegian trade family Lysholm shipped aquavit casks to the East Indies hoping for an export adventure.

As no one would buy it, the aquavit was sailed back to Norway. On its return in 1807 it was discovered that the sea voyage had matured the spirit and improved the taste significantly.

Linie Akvavit container_Cocktails of CopenhagenThis innovation in flavor maturation became a brand of its own and any aquavit having crossed the equator line twice was branded “Linie”.

Today every cask of Linie aquavit is sailed in blue containers from Norway to Australia and back again to mature at sea and Linie has become one of the most exported aquavits on the market.

For today’s Friday bar event at the deep tech startup hub Futurebox we combine this market adventure with orange roots to create a distinct house cocktail:

Root2Market, Futurebox cocktail with Linie Aquavit4cl Linie Aquavit
1cl Cointreau
4cl Carrot juice
2cl Lemon juice
1,5cl Green tea/turmeric syrup*

Shake with ice and served up in a cocktail glass. Garnish with toasted coconut flakes.

*Heat water with green tea and freshly grated turmeric root. Strain and mix 1:1 with sugar.

This box-breaking vitamin bomb, of orange roots, aquavit and exotic oriental flavors will definitely shorten any startup’s time to market!

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
