To Mexico and beyond!
This beautiful pink creation is a tasty crossbreed between two of Jeppe Nothlev’s favourite classic tequila cocktails – Margarita and Paloma. It combines the salt rim of a Margarita and the fresh grapefruit kick of a Paloma. Tequila of course is the guest of honor gently wrapped in a veil of rhubarb.
With Tahona Fizz Jeppe Nothlev just won the honor to represent Denmark in Mexico on the 11th of September for the Tahona Society Cocktail Competition 2017.
”Basically I am trying to reverse the idea a lot of people still have today, of tequila being something awful you only have at late hours, way too intoxicated in questionable bars. I wanted to do a cocktail that showcase the beauty you can get from working with tequila without being overly complicated.” – Jeppe Nothlev, Helium
50 ml Olmeca Altos Plata
10 ml Pedro Ximénez sherry
30 ml fresh lime juice
30 ml homemade rhubarb syrup
Dash of egg white
30 ml three cents grapefruit soda
Shake and strain into a frozen wine glass, top with grapefruit soda and garnish with rhubarb salt on the side + a spray of Olmeca Altos Plata on the top. The Rhubarb salt is made by mixing dried pulp of rhubarb with salt.
If you’re looking for an easy-to-drink tequila cocktail, you’ve got it right here!
The rhubarb-lime-sherry mix is a fantastic vehicle for the Tahona tequila and the spray of Olmeca Altos Plata on top brings the tequila experience to the foreground from the very first sip. The rhubarb salt on the glass is both refined eyecandy and a mouthwatering salty companion for the sweet refreshment inside the glass.
Thanks to Jeppe for bringing us this mouthwatering concoction. We’ll most certainly have a few at Helium while cheering for Jeppe in the Tahona Society competition. Cheers and best of luck!
