Temptation
A flavorful pairing without booze
Bars create entizing atmospheres for friends to gather and enjoy each others company. No one in a company of friends should feel excluded and for this reason most top level bars in Copenhagen provide a good selection of non-alcoholic cocktails on their menus. This is certainly the case at Curfew.
Bar owner Humberto Marques is of the opinion that all guests deserves top level service no matter their preferences. You might be alcohol intolerant, pregnant or working the day after. Whatever the case – if you prefer a non acoholic drink a skilled bartender will offer you interesting flavor pairings mixed with care rather than just popping a soda. At Curfew they have a good selection of low ABV cocktails also known as “light cocktails” and alcohol free cocktails on the menu. One of them is the Temptation:
6 cl passion fruit puree
6 cl lime juice
3 cl honey
1 sprig of tarragon
Ginger aleAll ingredients except the ginger ale are shaken with ice. Strain over ice in a high ball glass and top with ginger ale. Garnished with a dried apple slice and a sprig of tarragon.
There are many interesting ways of combing flavors in a drink without the use of alchohol. For an article on the subject from Tales of the Cocktail Matt Seigel gives some examples:
“Find whatever herbs, barks, vegetables, bones, spices, whatever and boil them in hot water, or any other liquid — you’ll be amazed at what you can make and the depth of flavors you can achieve… Hops, juniper berries, cardamom, saffron, fennel and other ingredients used in gin and herbal liqueurs can be used raw or toasted to add complex flavors to a drink without adding alcohol.”
