The Dog that bit you

The dog that bit you

Toasted grapefruit

Aquavit seems to have a weird affinity with grapefruit. A bit like the agave spirit tequila (who doesn’t like a classic Paloma cocktail?).

The dog that bit you is inspired by the agave stronghold of Copenhagen– The Barking Dog and their tasty house cocktail Feels like Berlin, substituting aquavit for tequila:

The Dog that bit you30 ml Harald Jensen Akvavit (or Aalborg Taffel)
15 ml mezcal
1,5 ml campari
25 ml lime
20 ml sugar syrup

Shake with ice. Fine strain into a cocktail glass and top off with the aromatic oils from a grapefruit zest.

A powerful caraway forward Danish style aquavit mixed with a bit of mezcal and some bitter campari makes this drink taste like a funky toasted grapefruit.

Be careful – it throws a heavy punch!

If you enjoy the taste of grapefruit or campari you might also enjoy the Tahona Fizz, Titanic Negroni from The Barking Dog or Papirflyveren from Lidkoeb.

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
