Trade Root
Low on alcohol but potent in flavor
Ginger and cucumber seem to be meant for mixing with aquavit. Ginger is said to have originated in the Indian subcontinent. It was exported to Europe in the first century AD as a result of the lucrative spice trade.
If you don’t feel like pumping too much alcohol in your system but enjoy the flavors of aquavit; “½ Aalborg” is the perfect solution. It’s half a traditional Aalborg Taffel aquavit in terms of alcohol and flavor intensity. With the support of some caraway infused honey you have a refreshing concoction potent in flavor.
5 cl ½ Aalborg
3 cl lime
3 cl caraway infused acacia honey*
5 slices of cucumber
Freshly ground gingerMuddle the cucumber and ginger. Shake all ingredients, serve over ice in a tumbler glass and garnish with a cucumber peel. For an alcohol free version exchange the ½ Aalborg with ginger beer.
*Mix the honey 2:1 with sugar syrup infused with caraway seeds.
