BollyJollyWood

An Indian-Scandinavian power mix

At K-bar it’s Kirsten Holm’s  policity that the guests should get a bang for the buck when it comes to the cocktails served. That means no subtle touchy feely drinks, but rather characteristic mixes strong in flavor and aroma. The BollyJollyWood is a perfect example of how this plays out in the bar:

5 cl Rød Aalborg Taffel Aquavit
2 cl home made curry syrup*
2 cl lime
Foco roasted coconut juice

Build in the glass. Top with roasted coconut juice and garnish with a slice of lime.

The characteristic carraway flavor of Taffel Aquavit goes extremely well with Indian cuisine. Indian curry contains a complex combinations of spices or Herbs. The main spices found in most curry powders of the Indian subcontinent are coriander, cumin, and turmeric. The carraway bridges continents in this power mix of Danish Taffel Aquavit and Indian curry.

*The curry syrup is made by mixing melted palm sugar with Indian madras curry, cumin and coriander.

I believe that true mastery eventually leads to original creation given the right conditions. I love creative cocktails that push the limits of flavor pairing. But I can't deny I have a personal preference for whisky and love everything that is clear and stirred.
